Back in Campus..

It was a different feeling that morning, surrounded by students and away from the busy schedule of meetings and phone calls.
I was back in the campus after the gap of five years, this time conducting a workshop for
students .The place where i had most of the fun, made a lot of mistakes, goofed up lots of times, made a fool of myself millions of times, but in the process learnt a lot…. Learnt about life, learnt about people and learnt about myself – the most important!! .
Last five years has been of a great learning at CnT and i thought i could go back to campus and share some of the learning with the students. Month back when i was planning for a workshop with the students i got a inquiry from Chandigarh college of architecture and thats it, i was all for it. I thought you won't find a better place than Chandigarh to conduct the workshop on Architecture.
One of the major concerns behind conducting this workshop was to create awareness about the works of contemporary architects amongst the undergraduate students of architecture. Our educational syllabus does offer studies related to individual architect’s work but due to the lack of enthusiasm in a student body, most of the times such attempts are found forceful.
Also, a personal observation suggests that; students’ exposure to fundamentals of architecture during their initial foundation years is limited to the study of modern masters and does not seek to inquire about the contemporaries. Usually, during the foundation years, students are influenced by a few individual architects and do not break away from the personality centric approach towards addressing their architectural learning. This workshop was to build a platform to conduct a critical inquiry into the works by different architects having various language, style, design methodologies etc.
